Do the builders work on Saturdays?

So, this was my question-"Do the builders work on Saturdays?" Apparently they DO. Take a look!

LOOK

I guess the builders are trying to move fast, since today and yesterday were the only two days that were predicted this week to have no rain. They have really made progress. Steve and I went to dinner tonight and were talking about how nice it will be to be able to host our families (when we move in our house), instead of us them hosting us.

The wood and foundation

I drove by today and took a look. I took this picture from my camera phone, because I didn't have my camera with me. I also took the picture from inside the car! I will have better pictures later. Anyway, some wood has been delivered, and the concrete has been poured for the foundation! Exciting!!!

I drove by the lot today because yesterday and today it did not rain. This is the first time in a long time it hasn't rained. They have started and these are the pics I took.

The ball is rolling...

Ok, so today I drove by the lot to see if any progress had been made. Unfortunately the weather has been absolutely CRAZY in Northern Alabama the last few weeks. The builders got the permit to build the house last week, and were supposed to start building, but it had rained the week before, then began raining again last week, and is scheduled to rain more this week... Anyway, they have marked off a few things with poles on the lot. The builders also moved the big huge trash bin that was on our lot, and looks like they dropped off some supplies to start.

Lighting

So, last week we had our lighting center appointment at Richard's Lighting. It went well. We picked out fans, light kits, lights for the front of the house, lights for the back of the house, lights for the bedrooms, lights for the bathrooms, and even a door bell!!

April 6, 2009- The Design Center Appointment

Today Steven and I drove home early from Birmingham to be at the design center by 2 o'clock. Today was so cold. It was 50 degrees, cold, rainy and windy. I couldn't believe it. It had been warm and in the 70's the past week. It was cold and rainy, and I had a horrible headache, and a sore throat-due to the sudden temperature drop (that lead to me being sick all week long), alas, we went to the design center. I didn't want to reschedule, because I didn't know when we would be able to go back. I was so glad I had asked our realtor the past week to come with us to the appointment. She is so good to us!! I was really glad, because I didn't feel really good, and she helped us decide on things-since I didn't feel so great.

Anyway, there were so many things to choose! Front door, shutters, vinyl, brick-we chose Boral Blacksburg, front door knob-we chose oil rubbed bronze, interior doors, carpet, wood flooring, knob pulls, drawer pulls for the kitchen, drawer and knob pulls for the bathroom, kitchen faucets in stainless steel, oil rubbed bronze faucets for the rest of the house, tile for the kitchen, tile for the bathrooms, grout to go in the tiles, cultured marble for the bathrooms, fireplace tiles and paint colors-by the way, for the whole house, we chose Sienna Sand from Pittsburgh Paint. Other things that we had to chose were, granite for the counter tops-we are actually going to get to pick out our own granite slab! The color we chose was Santa Ceceila, we got to choose whether the counter top would be beveled, rounded, or squared. We chose beveled, because the lady said it used to be an upgrade, but just came off the upgrade list-so we figured we we'd try it-since it was no longer an upgrade. We got to choose the picture window that goes in the bathroom. It is a really pretty window that is called Renaissance. We got to chose our fireplace mantel.

There were more things but I can't remember them all. We will still have to choose all of our lighting, our appliances, shower doors, and fixtures, bathroom shelving, at a later date-probably more but I can't remember them all! So many things to choose!!! We are hoping they will get started building this week. They haven't started as of yet.
